Hunting Information

Meat Handling

All animals will be deboned in the field, packed back at camp and hung in our meat houses. On Wednesday, or earlier if warm temperatures, meat will be flown to base. For driving guests, meat is usually chilled. For flying guests, the meat will be boxed and prepared for shipping by NL big game shipping.

Note: Butchering of meat is an additional cost. As well, a ground shipment company called Central NL Shipping at 709-651-4427, can make arrangements to ground ship your meat capes and antlers frozen back to the U.S.A.. We provide boxes and drop off to this shipper.

At Sam’s Pond and Rainy Lake combined we have 5 aluminum boats and motors and an 8-wheel Argo ATV. At Base Camp Lodge our ground accessed site we use 4×4 Pickup and ATV’s.

Wounding Policy

In the event a hunter wounds an animal (the animal is not killed but blood can be tracked), it is Efford’s and the hunters responsibility to make every reasonable effort to search and locate the wounded animal. If the animal is not found after an adequate amount of time spent searching, your hunt for that species will be considered finished. However, a hunter can still hunt for that same wounded animal for the remainder of the week if they wish.

European Mounts

Any client flying and choosing to do a European mount will have to get their mount done at NL taxidermy as the shipping company will not ship unfinished European mounts across the border. NL taxidermy will ship your mount to you when completed. They can be reached at 709-783-2180. Any driving clients can take their European mounts across the border with them.
